Harriet Mackenzie (violin), Graham Walker (cello), Sarah-Jane Bradley (viola)
The performance will last 75 minutes with no interval but a short comfort break between pieces.
Harriet Mackenzie, who played so brilliantly in Nairn two years ago, returns as string trio Karolos with Sarah Jane Bradley and Graham Walker. All three have international reputations as soloists and chamber musicians, and are committed to seeking out new works, as well as performing the well known classical repertoire.
The group will play two outstanding pieces from the string trio repertoire, Schubert's witty and lively one movement String Trio in Db and Mozart's Divertimento in Eb K563. The six movements alternate heartfelt slow movements with lively minuets and peasant like dances, ending, as did so many of Mozart's compositions, with a rollicking rondo.
To complete the programme there will be two short recent pieces by Robert Fokkens, a South African composer whose music is full of quirky and joyful African rhythms.
Schubert | String trio in Bb D471 |
Mozart | Divertimento for string trio in Eb KV563 |
